In choosing your project, your congregation or group can:

1. Pick a ministry area that touches your members’ hearts, such as:

• Children — A staggering number of children around the world have been orphaned due to war, disease and hunger. Poverty, exploitation and malnutrition surround them. Through local partner churches and organizations, LCMS World Relief/Human Care gives these children a place to live, clothing, food and medical care.
• Education — Imagine not being able to read a book, a restaurant menu, or the Bible. Learning opportunities open the world to children and adults around the globe! Through local churches and other agencies, LCMS World Relief/Human Care is able to provide basic school supplies, textbooks and job training.
• Medical — In some countries, basic medical services are unavailable to many living in poverty and despair. LCMS World Relief/Human Care, working in partnership with other agencies, helps provide clinical services to help meet basic medical needs, such as immunizations and checkups. Other vital services, such as treatment for HIV/AIDS sufferers, nutritional classes and mother and child clinics, are also provided.
• Community building — By providing vocational training, adult education courses and outreach activities, communities continue to grow. Neighbors help each other by sharing knowledge gained through these training programs. LCMS World Relief/Human Care and its partner organizations assist communities as they grow stronger.
• Hunger and thirst — Can you imagine having no food or water for your family? Impoverished areas receive emergency food aid and clean water through assistance projects offered by LCMS World Relief/ Human Care and its partner organizations. Agricultural development programs provide training to help gain necessary skills for future food production.
• Aging issues and the elderly — As the world’s population ages, needs of the elderly increase. Additional housing assistance, food pantries, soup kitchens and older adult activities help meet needs of this forgotten generation. Through LCMS World Relief/Human Care and cooperating agencies, the special needs of the elderly are met, bringing them hope and comfort.
